shantala tribal fusion dancer and teacher

My story in brief ...

I started my training at the age of 4 with the ballet teacher Alida Pellegrini. Thanks to the tender age, from that moment the dance became part of my body and my way of expressing myself and relating to the world.

At 6 years old I approached artistic and rhythmic gymnastics that I practiced with passion for 9 years at a competitive level to then move on to modern and jazz dance, until I discovered belly dance in 2005.

The fervent feminist faith cultivated at the time of university had kept me up to that moment from that dance that I initially considered linked to a vision of woman-object, but by studying it further I learned to appreciate the strong sisterhood that is created among the dancers and the pure pleasure of dancing for herself in harmony with the other dancers. At the same time I resumed classical dance for two years with the teacher Lorenza Balsarini.

In 2008 I discover tribal fusion. That was the form of expression that suited me, sensual and strong,in some ways mathematical but transgressive, totally eclectic. In July 2010 I followed Suhaila Salimpour's Fusion training and a further chasm opened up under my feet… pure study and research on your body, awareness of your limits and continuous search for new goals, sometimes frustration.

Since then, tribal fusion has revealed itself to me as a spiritual and psychological path to rediscovering the self and the "if", it has completely overturned all my perception and belief much more than all the years of studies in language, sociology and psychology. A world has opened up to me and I have joined this cohesive and supportive world community.

I started teaching just to be able to return at least a small part of the immense heritage that I continue to have the good fortune to seize and learn from the best teachers, as well as to convey enthusiasm, joy, respect for dance, discipline, sharing and mutual support.
